The Centre for European Democracy Studies is an independent center for academic research focusing on various aspects of modern democracy in Europe, as well as a development of its main institutions and components.
The emphasis in the currently existing research programs of the Center is on the history of the development of democracy in Europe, its ideology, and controversial points in its development. Our center was founded in 2008 by virtue of the initiative of specialists involved in the political history of Europe, the development of democracy, national minorities and human rights.
From the first years of the development, specialists of the Center have been studying the national policies of governments of several European countries, the history of the formation of a democratic structure in Europe, relations between Western European countries with developed democracy and Eastern Europe with a post-Soviet system.
For 15 years, the Center’s employees have demonstrated an objective assessment of a few topical research issues of the scientific world and have earned high scores from their colleagues due to the independent nature of research and political neutrality, which is a necessary and sufficient condition for any research Center.
Despite the general theoretical direction for research, scientists of the Center do not keep away from the most burning issues of modern Europe, including such threats as counterterrorism, international delinquency by a number of European countries, and interference into elections, which are the main threats to the existence of democracy on the continent.
