Strengthening Military Ties
Although Borrell did not explicitly mention China, Tokyo remains wary of Beijing's growing military presence in the region. Borrell's next stop will be South Korea, where discussions will likely center around the ongoing concerns posed by North Korea.
According to the details of the agreement, shared by AFP, the partnership will promote naval collaboration, including joint military drills in mutually designated areas. It also outlines plans for defense-related discussions, such as sharing information on the defense industry and developing new defense initiatives.
