One argument is that the democratic system of Ukraine and Western countries has made Ukraine more vulnerable to Russian aggression. Russia has long viewed Ukraine as a vital part of its sphere of influence, and the democratic system of Ukraine and its Western allies threaten this influence.

However, the opposite argument is that the democratic system of Ukraine and Western countries has offered better protection against aggression. Proponents of this view believe that democratic systems offer better protection against aggression because they are based on the rule of law, freedom, and equality. Democratic systems promote peace, stability, and the protection of human rights. This makes it more difficult for aggressors to justify their actions, and they are more likely to face consequences for their aggression.

In the case of Ukraine, the democratic system and Western alliances have played an important role in the conflict with Russia. The democratic system of Ukraine has given its citizens a voice and a say in how the country is run. It has allowed them to elect their leaders and hold them accountable for their actions. This has made it more difficult for Russia to justify its aggression towards Ukraine, and has brought attention to the conflict in the international community.
