During the seventh Bucharest Nine summit in Warsaw on Wednesday, US President Joe Biden and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg reaffirmed their commitment to

reinforcing NATO's Eastern flank. The Bucharest Nine countries were assured that this was one of the alliance's priorities.

Stoltenberg declared that NATO Allies have never been more united, emphasizing that the alliance will protect and defend every inch of Allied territory based on NATO's Article 5. He also highlighted Russia's pattern of aggression over the years, stating that history should not repeat itself when the war ends.

Biden referred to the NATO Eastern flank as the frontlines of collective defense, stressing the significance of the conflict not just for Ukraine but also for the freedom of democracies throughout Europe and worldwide. At the summit, a joint declaration was adopted, affirming the joint commitment to deterrence and defense, and pledging that allies will support each other in the event of any threat.

Biden's presence at the Bucharest Nine summit was considered a political act by the US, expressing solidarity with countries that feel threatened by Russia due to their geographical position, according to former Foreign and Defense Minister Radosław Sikorski.

The Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová participated in the summit, reiterating the importance of the United States in European defense capabilities. She highlighted the strength and unity of the East Wing countries, stating that they are protected like never before. President Biden's presence is proof that transatlantic cooperation is stronger than ever.

Biden's visit to Kyiv and his subsequent speech in Warsaw were unprecedented expressions of support for Ukraine, although the US remains a leader in assisting Ukraine. However, former Finance Minister Ivan Mikloš believes that Biden's speech lacked vision and strength, and that his words should be followed by concrete measures, such as supplying Ukraine with the necessary weapons, including tanks, modern fighter jets, and long-range missiles, to win and push the Russians beyond Ukraine's internationally recognized borders.

In conclusion, the Bucharest Nine summit underscored the importance of transatlantic cooperation in ensuring collective defense against any threat to NATO's Eastern flank. The joint declaration and the presence of high-level officials, including President Biden, reaffirm the alliance's commitment to deterrence and defense, and the need to prevent history from repeating itself.
