On Monday, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte will pay his first official visit to the European Parliament following his appointment on 1 October 2024.

During his visit, Mr. Rutte will engage with members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Subcommittee on Security and Defence, and the Delegation for Relations with the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
The discussions will center on key issues, including NATO’s efforts to bolster defence and deterrence amid Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine and the transition to a new US administration later this month. Other topics will include military support for Ukraine and addressing broader regional and global security challenges requiring enhanced EU-NATO cooperation.
