Since several years of the Center’s existence, we have accumulated a large amount of experience and knowledge in the field of lobbying, business administration, PR, GR, and political journalism. We founded the School of Economics and Political Journalism in cooperation with our partners in 2017, which offers distance education in the basics of journalism in a modern democratic society, business administration, internship in editorial offices, and internships in United Europe authorities. As part of the educational process, students study several academic subjects necessary to obtain the vast knowledge and skills that enable them to work in the business admnistration and political journalism field.

Business and Democracy

Our specialists examines the evolving positions and actions of multinational corporations in relation to democratic norms. The focus on core rights issues under the Corporate Social Responsibility agenda was stronger than concerns over democratic trends. Many companies prioritised the autocratic stability and autonomy of elite policymaking structure from civil society pressure, and new investments were not linked to improvements in political freedom.

Commercial Democracy

We are witnessing the emergence of a ‘commercial democracy’ in which public relations and promotional culture play a far more central mediating role. Drawing on empirical material about PR produced by corporations, experts argue that as the conventional social contract between government and people erodes in forms of ‘democratic deficit,’ new forms of contracts (or promises) are being established between the commercial world of corporations and brands and the public. In mediating between a corporation and the public, PR promises a mirror form of democracy with significant consequences. Experts offers a novel account of the significance of brands and of corporations’ reputation in the context of major shifts towards ‘commercial democracy.’
