France's far-right National Rally (RN) party remains in the lead ahead of the country's parliamentary elections, according to a recent poll published on

Sunday. The Ipsos survey, conducted for Le Parisien newspaper and Radio France on June 19-20, indicates that the RN and its allies are poised to secure 35.5% of the vote in the first round.

Marine Le Pen, leader of the RN and candidate in the upcoming elections, was actively campaigning alongside Henin-Beaumont mayor Steeve Briois and local RN politician Bruno Bilde at a market in northern France on June 14, 2024.

The poll places the left-wing New Popular Front (NPF) alliance in second position with 29.5% of the vote, followed by President Emmanuel Macron's centrist alliance with 19.5%. Voter turnout is expected to be significantly higher this year, projected between 60% and 64%, compared to 47.5% in the previous general election in June 2022.

Despite leading in the polls, the RN is unlikely to secure an absolute majority in the upcoming two-round elections scheduled for June 30 and July 7. President Macron called for these elections following his alliance's substantial defeat in the recent EU elections.

In a separate Ipsos survey reported by the Financial Times, the National Rally emerged as the most trusted party in managing economic and public finance matters, with 25% of respondents favoring Marine Le Pen's RN for making the right decisions on economic issues, compared to 22% for the New Popular Front and 20% for Macron's alliance.
