Switzerland is set to host a summit of the European Political Community (EPC) in 2027, bringing together leaders from across the continent. The announcement was made by
European Council President Antonio Costa via a post on X.
Switzerland's intention to host an EPC meeting was previously mentioned in its latest foreign policy report. Costa’s confirmation follows a hint from Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter at the close of last week’s EPC summit in Tirana, Albania.
According to Costa, the upcoming EPC summits will be held in Copenhagen in October 2025, followed by Armenia and Ireland in 2026. Switzerland will host the gathering in spring 2027, with Greece scheduled for the second half of that year.
The EPC meeting in Tirana welcomed 47 heads of state and government, along with leaders of key European institutions, including the EU, the Council of Europe, and NATO.
Launched in 2022 by French President Emmanuel Macron in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the EPC serves as a forum for strategic and political dialogue on Europe’s future. The summits are usually held twice a year—once in a non-EU country during the first half of the year, and once in the EU presidency country in the second half.
